DLR Conference on Climate Change 2018 – Atmospheric Research for Understanding and Mitigating Climate Change, 17–19 April 2018, Cologne, Germany


Venue Flora Köln 

The Flora is a fine historical monument building set in the Botanical Gardens. Originally built in 1864, it has undergone a series of renovations and was reopened as a congress venue in June 2014. 

The Flora offers the perfect setting for the DLR Conference on Climate Change 2018. The Conference will take place in the 800 square meter ceremonial hall, as well as in the Bistro and Orangerie, all with splendid views over the grounds.

Cologne city center was declared an environmental zone on 01.01.2008, which means that only vehicles in the pollutant groups 2 to 4 and which bear the corresponding windscreen sticker are allowed access. For further

By Car

  • take the Zoobrücke (bridge) and follow the signposts in the direction of “Zoo/Flora". After turning right into “Alter Stammheimer Weg”  you will see the entrance to the Zoo on the right-hand side and the Flora on the left. Turn left into "Im Botanischen Garten". On the left-hand side you will find a small car park in front of the Flora. Additional parking spaces can to be found under the Zoobrücke.

  • from the city center, drive along the Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer and then follow the signposts "Zoo/Flora" as described above.

By Train

  • on arrival at Cologne Central Station take a tram No 18 and ride to the "Zoo/Flora" stop.


By Public Transport

  • take the tram No 18 to the "Zoo/Flora" stop or the bus number 140 and get off at the "Zoo/Flora" stop.


By Plane

  • from the Cologne/ Bonn Airport take the tram S13 tram in the direction of "Köln-Ehrenfeld" to the Cologne Central Station. Then take the tram No 18 and ride to the "Zoo/ Flora".

Travelling to/from Cologne

By plane

Cologne itself as well as the conference venue and most of the recommended hotels are very easily accessible from the following three airports:

You can reach Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) easily by bus or rail from Cologne City Center. The railway station is located at the center of the airport and offers public transport services to Cologne City Center every 20-30 minutes (20-30 minutes intervalls).

From Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) there are public transport services to Cologne City Center and the conference venue every 20-30 minutes. Transfer duration is in the range of 45-60 minutes.

Train connections from Frankfurt Airport ( FRA) to Cologne City Center are provided at 20-45 minutes intervals. Shortest transfer duration is about 1 hour.


By train

Cologne is very well connected to the German railway network, both by fast intercity links and regional trains. The conference venue is located close to Cologne Central Station which is a network junction for regional, national and international trains .
